JCO:An Encounter with the Blind

Anybody care to discuss this one from By the North Gate?

I reread it the other day and was really taken by it. Starr Bright Will Be
With You Soon seems to be a novel length treatment of the story with a
protagonist of the opposite gender. I was reading a trashy true crime book
about Aileen Wournos, a hitchhiking serial killer and prostitute, and
wondered if it was the inspiration for Starr Bright, but An Encounter is was
written when Aileen was just a child. (Of course, Blind Boy is just a
child!)

I have a hard time guessing what went on in the half hour between the car
running off the road and Blind Boy being dropped off at the bus station,
strangely victorious but without his knife.

Anybody?
Ted
