JCO: RE: NYT

I could not find in the NY Times online archive, but someone else might be able to so it could be posted. I'm working from a xerox of a microfilm, so the quality is not even good enough to scan. But here is the citation info:
New York Times Book Review, March 29, 1981.

Thanks, Karen

JCO: RE: Marya: A Life

Hi. I just taught it. One of the things I did was to bring in the 2 pieces from (Woman) Writer - the essay JCO wrote about the status of the (woman) writer and then the short piece she wrote about Marya - an afterword. I also gave them her NY Times piece "Why Is Your Writing So Violent?". I suspect you were probably after a scholarly analysis of Marya (maybe try Marilyn Wesley's or Brenda Daly's work); however, since JCO does both fiction and scholarship, it can be interesting to use her to deconstruct herself.
Thanks, Karen

I'm searching for critical analysis in preparation for teaching this text next semester. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
