JCO: Jinx is bitter, but is it just his heart?

hi!
i recently read Because it's bitter, and because it is my heart, and even though i don't know all of JCO's works, i have to say that i find this novel (which i know it's not so recent) extremely interesting, not because of the topic, but because of the strange technique JCO uses to grab the reader's attention. But, i wanted to comment other thing actually; in the first part of the book, there's a chapter describing the basketball game in which Jinx was the hero and the most expected miracle. The whole chapter talks about the struggle, both emotional and physical, Jinx went through. i really liked this chapter because it seems almost as if JCO was a basketball player feeling everything Jinx was feeling (which i've felt too). It seemed that Jinx had the game in his pocket, but almost at the end of the chapter something happened and Jinx fell after he attempted to score. He falls and we know that something really bad is happening. We! ll, my question has nothing to do with Jinx's health but to something almost trivial,
did Jinx score? Did his team win?
That game impacted Jinx for the rest of his life, i was just wondering if it was only because he broke his foot or if it was because the town's miracle didn't work after all.
What do you think? Any comments would be really helpful since i'm working on a final project about this book! Thankx!
