I'm still hoping for the JCO to be awarded the Nobel prize, as it is
tradition that the literature winner give a lecture at the Stockholm
University... Well, the announcement of this year's winner is next Thursday
(12th) - keep them crossed!

Hi, Eric.  In one interview, JCO's husband Raymond described her and her parents as "cheerful stoics -- or they try to be." Hence the humorous side.  Otherwise, I should think, seeing too much might render one inert.
