Re: JCO: book signing

Thanks everyone. I do plan on Purchasing "Female" at the signing as well as bringing another book. The store rep said that they did not know if she would sign other books, so I am going to just bring it along in case.

Chris,

It all depends on who is hosting the reading.  Some entities, such
as a school campus, may have no restriction.  Others, such as stores (at
least in my area) tend to put up a notice that only one book can be
signed at a reading, and sometimes that holds even if you are buying
multiple hardbacks of the current book!  But be sure to take whatever
you want signed in case you will be allowed to present it to her.  Also,
IMO it's always thoughtful to purchase the current book from the people
sponsoring the appearance, too.

One suggestion I have, just in case you are able to get the
inscription personalized is this:  Print (clearly!) your name, the way
you want it to appear, in dark ink on a small sheet of blank white paper
and hand it to her with the book.  And make the letters large enough for
middle-aged eyes to see.  (Some people have the tiniest print!)  There
are so many spellings of names these days, and sometimes, in my
experience, authors' minds are busy during the signing and they don't
always quite get it right or don't quite understand a person who spells
his/her name.  I have seen this multiple times at signings.

   Enjoy yourself!
