Re: JCO: 9/11 stories

Updike wrote a story, "Varieties of Religious Experience" in the Atlantic -- the beginning is available here:

Re: JCO: 9/11 stories

A couple of SF/fantasy takes on 9/11:

"Only Partly Here" by Lucius Shepard - probably easiest to find this in The
Year's Best Fantasy & Horror: Seventeenth Annual Collection (edited by Ellen
Datlow, Kelly Link & Gavin J. Grant), St Martin's Press, 2004. Recommended.
It was originally published in the Mar 2003 issue of Asimov's SF and also
appears in Shepard's collection Trujillo (PS Publishing [UK], 2004)

Another one, which I haven't read but has been recommended to me, is "In
Spirit" by Pat Forde. It appeared in the September 2002 issue of Analog, but
I don't know if it's been reprinted.

Re: JCO: 9/11 stories

tanya,

i think i mentioned during that earlier discussion
william gibson's "pattern recognition." it plays a
poignant, minor role - particularly in one scene.

JCO: 9/11 stories

I have a slight recollection of a discussion that I think took place some time
ago about stories inspired by the 9/11 incident. I believe that JCO's "The
Mutants" is one of these stories. But I also remember somebody mentioning some
other authors who have also published 9/11 stories. Is John Updike one of them?
