JCO: introduction and a few reviews

Hello,

Just a little introduction. I'm a lawyer from a small town in
upstate New York. I'm from a very large family and am the son and
grandson of factory workers. My first introduction to Joyce Carol
Oates was through "We Were the Mulvaneys", which worked for me on
several levelsI loved its very accurate description of the lifestyle
and people of upstate New York, and its description of a family in
transition from nuclear to extended fit in very well with a similar
process my family was undergoing at the time.

Over the course of succeeding years, I've on occasion picked a few
novels by Oates, and some of them have worked for me, and some
haven't. I keep a blog at www.journalscape.com/brainsalad, and at
times I have put up reviews of a few of her novels. You can link to
those reviews here.

("The Tattooed Girl")

("Solstice" and "Rape: A Love Story" briefly discussed among other topics)

("Do with me what you will")

("Zombie" along with "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night
Time" by another novel by Mark Haddon and a discussion of Kurt
Vonnegut's writing style)

The last entry is the one I've gotten the most positive feedback on.

So anyway, I was curious as to what serious Oates fans would think of
my reviews. Any comments would be welcome.
